Friends of the Pizza Oven (FOPO)

Friends of the Pizza Oven (FOPO)
The Friends of the Pizza Oven (FOPO) culinary group is dedicated to creating handmade, artisan pizzas from fresh ingredients in the Gualala Arts wood fired pizza oven.

Pizza OvenFOPO members fire up the outdoor pizza oven starting in March, and they gather on the last Tuesday of each month through September to enjoy making, baking, and serving pizza. Everyone is expected to step right up to the oven and bake their own pizzas, using the provided fresh pizza crusts, sauce, cheese and array of toppings and/or any toppings they bring to bake that unique, signature pizza! Expert pizza baking assistance is provided to newcomers or timid would-be pizza bakers. Everyone brings a side dish to share with their FOPO mates, and their own beverages. Baking begins at 5:30 p.m. and we wrap up the festivities when it gets too dark to see our wine glasses.

Members provide their own refreshments and side dishes and meet in the Picnic Area, where await their creativity in making a pizza that is the envy of the rest of the group!

In addition to the last Tuesday evening of the month pizza baking events, FOPO will be offering workshops on the pizza oven operation and pizza dough creation. Watch for workshop dates and times in future Sketches newsletters, at GualalaArts.org or by call Jamie for information.

To join this culinary group requires only a $100 one-time fee. If you are curious but not sure if you want to commit, you can attend any of the pizza parties at no charge (you still need to bring a side dish and your own beverages) and see if you want to join. FOPO is sure that once you try out the pizza oven and the marvelous pizzas it produces and you get to know the fun-loving FOPO group that you will definitely want to join!
