This voice and dance workshop is for girls grades 2 through 12 and will include one hour of hip-hop dance and one hour of learning to sing a newly commissioned piece as well as other songs in contrasting styles (i.e. Black Eyed Peas).

The workshop will culminate in a presentation October 30 at Gualala Arts Center. (Students with more than 2 excused absences may be excluded from the performance.)

Requires a minimum of 10 students. No experience required. (Scholarships are available upon written request.)

About Sue Bohlin

Sue Bohlin enjoys a busy career as pianist, composer, and conductor. Ms. Bohlin earned a music performance degree at the Conservatory of Music at the University of the Pacific; taught oboe at the Conservatorio Nacional de Mexico; spent a decade as music director with the avant-garde San Francisco theatre group, George Coates Performance Works; has performed with dozens of other arts organizations, choirs, orchestras, and schools, including 27 years with Piedmont East Bay Children's Choir, and numerous collaborations with her husband's choirs, Volti and the San Francisco Choral Society. Her own choir, the Anchor Bay Children's Choir began in 2007. Her music publishers are Santa Barbara Music Publishers and Alliance Music Publishers.

About Melissa Newhall

Melissa Newhall, dance instructor, started ballet at an early age and quickly expanded her repertoire into many styles of dance including jazz, hip-hop, African, Afro-Haitian, belly, and even fire dancing. But her favorite is hip-hop. She currently teaches at Point Arena Elementary and dances with and does choreography for the Point Arena Dance Crew.
