Once again, Readers Theater will present an old-fashioned, live Radio Play at the Gualala Arts Center in December. But this play is by a new-fashioned playwright, our very own Dennis Carter.
But Matthew's plan to leave work early to meet the woman of his dreams is interrupted when he is unexpectedly plunked into the role of Acting Manager of the entire store, and it's the busiest day of the year! To make matters worse, a rare, priceless Fabergé Egg, long displayed in Godunov's store window, has gone missing. Will Matthew be able to recover the Godunov Fabergé Egg? To manage the hordes of crazed last-minute Christmas shoppers, his beleaguered staff, and a love-sick co-worker? To fend off Homeland Security? Can the Godunov Egg do its magic in the name of True Love? Come and see this hilarious new radio play, written by Dennis Carter and directed by Karen Serratoni. Actors are Saundra Brewer, Jan Carter, Joel Crockett, Mary Sue Ittner, Jane Simmonds, David Skibbins, Bob Welch and Dennis Carter. Once again, Sabina Walla will be onstage creating live sound effects for the radio play. This year she is joined by Wayne Harris who will be in the booth running recorded sound. This Readers Theater performance has been underwritten by a generous anonymous donor so that 100% of the ticket proceeds will benefit Gualala Arts. Readers Theater appreciates being able to use the Arts Center each month for their meetings and this is a "Thank You" for that use. This donation has also allowed the ticket price to be reduced by 50% to $10 advance, and we hope this special price will encourage a packed house for each performance! In Dennis' comedy, Matthew, a modern but somewhat reserved manager of a department in the famed Godunov's Department Store in San Francisco, meets a woman online. They agree to a blind date on Christmas Eve (sigh).
