Saturday, December 15 at 7:00 p.m.
   Sunday, December 16 at 2:00 p.m.

The Gualala Arts Reader's Theater and Art Center Theater will present two performances of the holiday classic "A Christmas Carol" on Saturday evening, December 15 at 7:00 p.m. and Sunday, December 16 at 2:00 p.m.

A Christmas Carol David Skibbins has adapted and directed this presentation of Charles Dickens famous Christmas story. This will be an adult 'story hour' as much as it is a dramatic presentation; with a narrator reading the tale and the Readers Theater cast bringing the characters to life.

At the heart of the show is the classic story of Ebenezer Scrooge, and his miraculous transformation, with the help of Marley's ghost and three spirits. Once again Sabina Walla is providing the sound effects, and Don Krieger the musical accompaniment. On top of that, this show will actually be recorded and broadcast on our own local radio station, KTDE!

Performing the dozens of characters that make up the play are members of the Gualala Arts Reader's Theater. Members meet monthly on the first Tuesday and enjoy exposure to a wide variety of play literature and the pleasure of exploring different roles, using their voices and facial expressions to bring the characters to life. All members of the community are welcome to join Reader's Theater; call Gualala Arts office 884-1138 for details.

The cast for the radio show includes Karen Serratoni, Jan Carter, Dennis Carter, Jim Littlejohn, Jane Simmonds, Niall Healy, Jon Handel, Karel Metcalf, David Skibbins, Tina Vasavada and Bob Welch.

Too often it is easy to become a bit like Scrooge ourselves, caught up with all the hurry and worry of daily life. We need to be reminded of the deeper meaning of this holiday season. How long has it been since you got to sit back, relax and have a wonderful story read to you? Come and join in as the live audience for this unique theatrical adventure! No matter how cold it is outside, this Christmas offering is guaranteed to warm your heart!

Tickets are $20 advance, $5 more on the day of the performance. Youth 7 to 17 free. For advance purchase, go to Brown Paper Tickets or call them at 800-838-3006. To purchase in person, visit the Gualala Arts Center or Dolphin Gallery in Gualala.
