Jim Joyce, forging The first one-day workshop was held May 3rd at 10:00 a.m. at Jim Joyce's studio in Timber Cove. Future meetings are scheduled for June 13, September 6, and October 11 of 2008.

The first year is dedicated to introductory training, including personal and studio safety, materials knowledge, tooling, and machinery knowledge and fundamental artist techniques and design.

Each elementary or intermediate artist will be taught to make the hand tooling they would need so as to develop a basic understanding of metallurgy, heat treating, and materials expansion in the 200F to 6000F temperature ranges. More experienced artists will be invited to lead workshops in their working field of expertise.
