Art Center Theater
Auditions for "Annie"

Saturday-Sunday, September 10 & 11, 2:30pm
possible call backs: September 12 in the evening

"Annie," an award winning musical, is scheduled as this year's Arts Center Theater holiday production.

In the tradition of "Amahl and the Night Visitors" and "Scrooge - the Musical" of previous seasons, "Annie" is packed with feel good spirit and wonderful songs. If you've ever had a yen to be on stage, this is perfect for you!

There are multiple roles, ranging from leads (remember Daddy Warbucks played by Albert Finney in the movie version), the terrible and funny Miss Hannigan (played professionally by Dorothy Loudon, Carol Burnett, and Kathy Bates), her sleazy brother Rooster (originally portrayed by Tim Curry), his cheap and tawdry girlfriend, Lilly St. Regis (played by Bernadette Peters), the sweet career girl Grace Fairchild (played in a movie version by the notable Anne Reinking), and Annie herself, (created by the fabulous Andrea McArdle).

Not ready for one of the leads? There are many smaller roles, both singing and non-singing, even a non-speaking role - the best looking dog costume goes with it! And calling all girls - the orphan parts are fabulous!

Auditions are scheduled at the Gualala Arts Center on September 10 and 11, at 2:30 p.m., with possible call backs on September 12 in the evening.

What's involved in an audition? The try-outs will be in two parts - acting (reading from the script) and singing. While a prepared song is optional, if you are trying out for a major role, it would be good to have a song ready. If you are interested in the chorus, we will want to hear your singing voice to determine range and ability to blend with other singers.

If you think you might be ready to indulge that creative urge to perform, contact Lynne Atkins at 884-1009, 884-3838, or email philyn@prodigy.net. She will be pleased to answer your questions and/or to loan you a script. Come join our happy band of players and give the gift of song and joy to the community this holiday season!
