Mother of the Forest by Michael Bagdonas The "Paint The Forests" Juried Art And Photo Competition was established by the Redwood Forest Foundation, Inc. (RFFI) as part of its commitment to the Working Community Forests initiative established by RFFI.

The Redwood Forest Foundation, Inc. is a private non-profit, section 501(c)3 organization. The RFFI vision is to establish community-based forests that provide both critical habitat for increased biodiversity and improved regional economic vitality. The RFFI mission is to acquire, protect, restore, and manage forestlands and other related resources in the Redwood Region for the long-term benefit of the communities located there. As an expansion to its mission, RFFI wishes to expand its model of working community forests nationwide.

Art has always played a key role in forest history, as artists such as Thomas Hill and Albert Bierstadt presented the grandeur and beauty of the forest areas to eager audiences nationwide. Today, thousands of local organizations, museums and groups still portray the beauty of our forested areas in regions across the county. It is RFFI's desire to reinforce that long standing tradition through the Paint the Forests competition.
