Call for Artists

Opening reception: Saturday, November 12, 2005 at 5:00 pm
Exhibit remains through December 4th

"Click!...and comments" is a Gualala Art Center member's show starting November 12 through December 4 in the Gualala Arts Center gallery. The reception to kick off this wild and wonderful photo exhibit will be Saturday, Nov. 12, 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. There will be no juries and no prizes but participants will have an opportunity to get feedback from well respected photographer/artists. These "Comment" sessions will not be available to the public, but are valued feedback for each photographer who wants to participate. Marion Patterson, Siegfried Matull and one person to be announced will be commenting and discussing the work with each photographer.

Marion Patterson worked extensively with Ansel Adams, and has taught photography at several California colleges. She continues to teach through the University of California Extension Program in Santa Cruz. She has had major solo exhibits of her work in the United States, Germany, The Netherlands, and Mexico. Her book, Grains of Sand, is well known.

Mr. Matull is widely known in wildlife photography circles and is frequently invited to judge exhibitions and other international competitions. Widely traveled, Siegfried has become a top photographer across many subjects. Currently, he swept honors for photographs, with ten winners in the Outdoor California photo contests.

The Click! exhibit is open to everything that is being done with photography. Along with the traditional wall art the show will encourage photographers to show how they are using their images for all types of projects and art from fabric to sculpture to self-published books, cards, stationery, and posters. Last year there were some very innovative sculpture pieces using photography. We are looking forward to seeing new ideas about how to use photography.

The exhibit is also open to video and animation and we're hoping to have entries this year. Slideshows are an excellent way to communicate and becoming an art form. Several of our members specialize in wildlife videos and we're hoping to see some of their great work.
