"The Quilter Revealed: Portraits and Self-Portraits"
Pacific Piecemakers Quilt Guild

Opening reception: Saturday, June 11, 5 pm
Exhibit remains through July 4th

Pacific Piecemakers Quilt Guild's annual Challenge Show will kick off with a reception at Gualala Arts on June 11 from 5 to 7 p.m. The challenge this year is entitled "The Quilter Revealed: Portraits and Self-Portraits." Members of the Guild were asked to become introspective, to look within themselves and ask the question, "Who am I - as a quilter, as an artist, as a person?" That assessment was then to be translated into a fabric design.

That artistic challenge might take many forms. Some might create self-portraits from fabric; others might opt for a beloved quilt block or a favorite color. Avid gardeners might create a landscape design. Ardent chefs could create a culinary pattern. The theme is wide-ranging and all encompassing and should result in a wide variety of colorful and intriguing quilts.

At the reception, names of the quilters will be covered, so that persons attending can try to guess "who's who," simply by looking at the quilts. The show will hang at Gualala Arts from June 11 through July 4.

Gualala Arts Center is located at 46501 Old State Highway in Gualala, and is open from 9 am to 4 pm weekdays, and weekends from noon to 4 p.m. Please call (707) 884-1138 for more information.
