The "Bodies in Motion" Art Poster Exhibit is part of the Fourth Annual Gualala River Run & Walk activities during the weekend of October 17-18, 2008. This fundraising event attracts upwards of 300 people.

The poster contest theme, "Bodies in Motion," should relate to fitness, exercise and movement. Posters can be created in any media - draw, paint or color, or a photo depicting their interpretation of the theme. Winning poster art will be used for the T shirt, flyers, brochures or other advertising for the Gualala River Run and Walk.

Categories are adult and school grades K-5, 6-8 and 9-12. One cash prize of $150 will be awarded in each of the four age categories. Selected art may be used on a poster, T-shirt or other items to promote the Gualala River Run & Walk. Submission deadline is July 15, 2008.

Mark your calendar and get those creative juices flowing! Details and specifications are available at www.actionnetwork.info and GualalaArts.org or call Action Network at 707-884-5413. The contest and exhibit will be limited to two pieces per artist. See entry form for more information.

All entries will be on exhibit at the Gualala Arts Center, October 17-18, 2008. Award winners will be announced on Friday, October 17, at the River Run "Basta Pasta Feed" in the Gualala Arts Center Auditorium.

Fourth Annual Gualala River Run & Walk

Saturday, October 18, 2008 at 9:00 a.m. is the start of the internationally known Fourth Annual Gualala River Run and Walk. The event features 5K (3.1 mile) and 10K (6.2 mile) runs and a 5K Fun Walk. This event appeals to competitive and fun runners/walkers. All finishers in all events receive a T-shirt, custom dog tag and goody bag including local merchant promotional materials and coupons.

For the serious runners, awards are presented to 1st, 2nd and 3rd places in ten age categories for men and women in the 5K and 10K runs. Again this year blacksmith and artist James Joyce of Bear Path Forge, Stewarts Point will prepare four unique metal sculptures as prizes for the over all first place winners in the Men and Women's 10K and 5K runs.

The Gualala River Run/Walk is truly a regional event. In 2006 over 200 runners and walkers participated from 47 cities in California, Washington and Texas. Californians came from Willits in the north to San Diego in the south. Australia was represented by the four members of a family vacationing at Point Arena Light Station. They were the event's first international contingent.
