Duane Gordon
Celebration & Art Sale

Friday, June 27, 5:00 p.m.

Condo One, by Duane Gordon After thirty years painting scenes of the North Coast he loves, Duane Gordon is laying aside his pen and brush. His eyes and hand are no longer able to produce his finely detailed paintings to his satisfaction. There will be a celebration of Duane's retirement and a sale of his remaining works on Friday, June 27, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Gualala Arts Center. Over 30 works of art, most of them framed, will be available for sale. Part of the proceeds will go to benefit Gualala Arts.

Duane moved to Sea Ranch in 1982 and, after a career in advertising art, reveled in the freedom to paint and in the abundance of beauty that existed here on the coast. Quiet River, by Duane Gordon His favorite subjects were a combination of the natural and the built environment. Examples are the painting of the town of Gualala as viewed from across the river that hangs in the Gualala Arts Center and the painting of the Kidd House he gave to the Gualala Community Center. Sometimes the paintings outlasted the structures. He painted the Gualala Hotel many times, taking advantage of changes of light and season. His paintings have been consistent winners in Art in the Redwoods and other competitions.

Duane says, "I'm not giving up art, I'm going to be exploring new media." For information on the celebration and sale, contact Marian Gates of the Henley's Gallery, 884-1531.
