The fifteenth annual Gualala Arts Creative Writing Contest offers $ 1,000 in prize money provided by The Sea Ranch Foundation and Gualala Rotary Club who have jointly sponsored the event since its inception in 2003. This year the genre is “Poetry.” Entries will be judged on literary elements of poetry, form, mechanics, originality and overall effect.

All full or part-time coastal residents from Elk to Timber Cove who have not previously had poetry published in a book or periodical with the exception of school publications are eligible. Previous contest winners in this genre are also not eligible as sponsors want to encourage new voices.

Each submission may consist of no more than three poems totaling no more than 100 lines. Do not include the author’s name.  A completed entry form available on-line at the Gualala Arts web site or at the art center office must accompany the manuscript.

Entries must be received at the Gualala Arts Center by Monday, April 30, by 4 pm. in person. Send entries via email at info@gualalaarts.org, or by mail at P.O. Box 244, Gualala, CA 95445.
